Our first ever African adventure had been a road trip to Amboseli National Park, Kenya. And it opened our eyes to a new definition of beauty and we had one of the most exhilarating experiences of our lives. The wilderness lay all around in its untamed and rugged beauty. Elephants dotted the landscape and the first thing the early morning would usher in are flocks of pink and white flamingoes, a snow peaked majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro and open landscape with acacia trees, playful monkeys and confident baboons almost walking into the cottages. Zebras and wildebeests grazed afar and you might spot the occasional antelope…and all these right outside your camp!
Get ready for the morning breaking through golden brush strokes right across the horizon. Flamingo…a type of wading bird in the family Phoenicopteridae. Quite a mouthful, isn’t it? And then you spot them…not one, not two, but in hundreds…with their white and pink lending a soft warm hue to the African rugged green and gold. And it is even more beautiful when they fly.
And then what Amboseli showed us was beyond words. The mighty African elephants, of a number of herds, big and small, leaders and babies, crossing the road as one big herd. Trumpeting their presence across the bushlands, leaving us humans in wondrous awe!
More of Amboseli and more of these amazing creations in my next blogs. Stay tuned!

Amboseli National Park is a truly amazing place with its marshy land and and broad lakes and myriads of birds of all colours and sizes. Of course the first thing everyone looks for is a photo of a lone Tusker with a small white bird perched on its back in front the snow capped peaks on Mt Kilimanjaro. Undeniably that is a truly majestic sight, something you will never forget but I dare say just like the pink flamingos, the scores of different kinds of birds also need a mention. Waiting to read your next blog on Amboseli National Park. 😊
Sudeshna, you gave a beautiful perspective indeed 🙂 Yes, the scores of birds in Kenya truly deserves a mention. Thanks for the idea!
