They often think. Are we going to be at home or go out? Is it going to be soon under-the-blanket time? Is treat-time due again? How much longer for you to finish your work and come sit with us?
They often laugh. You will see them smiling at us. Tongue out, eyes smiling, mouth widened in a grin. They smile at themselves, at us, at something to play with, at a new situation. They smile when we come home, they smile when they get to snuggle in a blanket, they smile when a treat is smelled from a distance!
They often are concerned. Brows raised, eyes questioning, a frown above the eyes. When something bothers them, when we say ‘NO’, when they are separated from us with an entire distance of a chair from a sofa in the same room. Most so when they see suitcases being packed. Our vacation, their sad-time.
And always, always, they love. In our happiness, laughter, pain, tears. In our isolation, concern, stress, distress. Our Cookie-Chiki, our girls, they know best how to love. How to keep us warm, how to define ‘shared-space’ on the sofa, under the blanket, on the chair…just about everywhere.
We love you, Cookie-Chiki, to the moon, to the universe, the next one and back. Always. You would never know what #InternationalDogDay is. You don’t need to. We love you and that’s all you need to know
