Few of my Favourite Things…

Some things simply cannot pale with time, like The Sound of Music. The love, the bond, the happiness, the music are timeless. Times have changed. We have grown as have the amazing kids of Sound of Music. And of course the unforgettale Julie Andrews! As we leave our youth way behind, as the pictures of our childhood dim with each passing day, the truth of life comes dashing back…unsteady at times, on unsure feet at times, but determined to stay, even if transient..

I dared make my own version of the Sound of Music “Raindrops on Roses”.

Snatches of songs that cook up a storm

Brush with the breathless or forgotten forms

Of dreams and time bygone, memories glued with strings

These are a few of my favourite things

A cosy corner and a candle lit eve

A touch of old romance, so sweet but brief

An old tale relived for the past to usher in

These are a few of my favourite things

The love which fades beneath a tired blanket

And dreams go pale and hide behind a shade

A sudden spark brings alive my laughter unhinged

These are a few of my favourite things

When the storm abates

And the sky clears

And the birds sing a new song

My childhood beckons

And the sun too looks young

The clouds like a fairy’s paradise

That’s when I pause

And my breath comes in shorts

And I dare again dream afresh

The Writer

A traveller through many a season
Have traversed roads, seen the close, the distant horizon
Some tucked-away dreams are my treasures
I delve into this trove when in distress or despair.
Don’t you too have a much-cherished list of “one-day-if”s
That distant dream, often far, but at times so within reach?
And then the day breaks and with it my fairy tale
Leaving behind the lovely feel of its happy trail.

This space is for those like me, so much yet unaccomplished,
To pen down some “what-if”s, those crazy wishes, some distant dreams.
Let our bedouin minds wander off all limitations
And the rush of the mountain stream wash away our inhibitions.
